Easy Tzatziki Sauce (Creamy, Fresh, & optionally Vegan)

Tzatziki is one of those things I didn’t have until I was an adult, and now I make it on a regular basis. It is so yummy, and such a great, high protein, healthy dip!

It’s creamy, tangy, and full of bright flavor from lemon, cucumber, and dill.

And the best part? You can make it dairy-free or traditional depending on what you have on hand.

👉 Use soy yogurt for a plant-based version
👉 Or plain Greek yogurt for a thicker, more traditional option

Both work beautifully!

Simple Tzatziki Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups soy yogurt or plain Greek yogurt
  • 2 tbsp fresh lemon juice (about 1 lemon)
  • 1 cup grated cucumber
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp freeze-dried dill
  • 1 tbsp olive oil (optional)

Instructions

  1. Grate the cucumber and lightly squeeze out excess moisture if needed.
  2. Add all ingredients to a bowl.
  3. Stir until well combined.
  4. Taste and adjust lemon or salt if desired.
  5. Chill for 15–30 minutes for best flavor (optional but recommended).

Tips for the Best Tzatziki

  • Greek yogurt = thicker dip, soy yogurt = lighter, plant-based option
  • Squeezing the cucumber helps prevent it from getting watery
  • Letting it sit in the fridge deepens the flavor
  • Add a drizzle of olive oil on top for a more traditional finish
